Amy McDonagh is an Irish musician/singer-songwriter now based in Los Angeles, blending warm, textured guitars with a soft, introspective pop sound. With a sound that leans into exploring the voice as an instrument, her music lives somewhere between folk, jazz-tinged pop and an intimate homegrown production.

Born in the West of Ireland, her songwriting is deeply shaped by her move abroad and the personal growth that followed. Her work reflects a demure coming-into-yourself, finding a quiet confidence while navigating change, identity and the emotional complexity of starting life again in a new place. There is an understated vulnerability in her music, where small moments are given space to breathe.

Her debut EP, Couldn’t Do This Till Now, marks a turning point. A collection of songs that feel both reflective and newly certain. With subtle Irish influences woven through guitar driven production, this project captures the feeling of finally being ready to speak.

Track 1: Intro

A short piece to introduce the EP. This track contains layered guitar and vocal parts woven together, achieving a sound that is a nod to Celtic music.

Track 2: Daisy Chain

A folk inspired song about reminiscing on the past and looking back on childhood. The song follows a story of walking through a field in the West of Ireland while reflecting on fond memories of places and people who are no longer with us.

Track 3: The Boy In LA

A song about falling in love with a new person and a new city. The sound is completely different to the previous track because life completely changed after a move abroad. A neo-soul/RnB song that's secretly about self love too.

Track 4: Saturn Returns

A pop/rock song written about turning 30. The verses are written from the perspective of struggling with life and mental health in your 20s and discovering who you are. Turning 30 can bring a sense of peace that comes with learning who you are and even if you don't have it figured out yet, at least you're trying!

Track 5: I Like Doing Life With You

A pop/rock song about a sense of peace and calm in the present day, but also feeling attached to where you came from and processing the guilt of leaving home.
